Digital Entry Instructions

Entry Instructions:
Use these instructions to complete your entries for ATPI Photo contests.

For the TAJE Write-offs, ignore the instructions regarding CD/DVD and just use the steps to complete the metadata requirements.

All student entries from a school should be on one CD or DVD. Create a separate folder for each category the school is entering. Inside each category folder create a folder for Beginning/Middle School entries (labeled Beginning-MS) and a folder for Advanced entries (labeled Advanced.) For submitting images for the Top Program, Rising Star and Hal Fulgham Scholarship contests, please label the folders with the contest and category or the contest and the student's last name.

To format entries, follow these steps:

1) Open the image in Photoshop. Under the File menu, select File Info.

2) In the Description field, enter -
     Division (Beginning-MS/Advanced)
Category
Student Name
School Name
School City, State
Teacher Name, instructor

For TAJE Write-offs, enter your caption information in the description field. Enter the photographer's name and school in the Author/Creator field.

Please enter a
after each line to help with formatting for the web.

3) Open Image Size under the Image menu.

4) If one or more of the pixel dimensions is larger than 2500 pixels, select the larger of the two numbers and reduce it to 2500 pixels. No other numbers need to be changed. Click OK.

5) Go to the File menu and select Save As.

6) Save the image as a JPEG file. The file name must not contain any periods or a \ or / - our suggestion is to name the file as lastname_B/A_Category_#.jpg (student last name, beginning or advanced, category name and image number) - i.e. Wilson_B_Sports_1.jpg. Image quality should be at maximum (12).

7) After all entries have been collected for the contest, burn a CD or DVD of those entries. Questions? E-mail info@atpi.org for answers.
