The Third Floor Photographic Society proudly announces the 30th Annual High School Shoot-Out, a contest for high school student photographers. The Society is a student organization within the Texas A&M University-Commerce (TAMU-C) Photography Division. Photo Shoot-Out is being held in conjunction with the Association of Texas Photography Instructors (ATPI) Winter Conference in Arlington, TX.

JUDGING: The judges who will be calling the shots were selected from professionals in the Texas. They are Danea Males and Jacob Botter. Both are working photographers from the East Texas and Louisiana area.

CATEGORIES: The contest is divided into two divisions; First Year Only, with B/W and Color categories and All Years, with the following categories. Each category in All Years is separated into B/W or color except for categories #6 & #8. (Hand colored prints should be entered as color.)

2. Portrait/People
3. Landscape/ Nature
4. Commercial, Still Life, Architecture/
    Architectural Detail/ Industrial
5. Photojournalism
6. Open
7. Digital Images
8. Junior/Senior Portfolio.

Categories 1 - 7 are for individual prints. Category 8 is a 10 - 15 print portfolio from any junior or senior high school student. Subject(s) of portfolio is open and should represent the student's best work.

First Year Only entrants may enter into any of the All Years categories by entering separate prints and including separate entry fees.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Prints can be mounted or unmounted as long as the image size (NOT paper size) of all prints must not be smaller than 5 inches (12.5cm), nor larger than 14 inches (35.5cm), on ALL sides. (For example, the smallest acceptable image is 5x5 inches and the largest is 14x14 inches.) The image size of mounted prints must still meet the above requirements while the overall dimensions of the mount cannot be smaller than 5x7 or larger than 11x14.

Students may enter as many prints as they wish. The entry fees are $.50 per single print and $5.00 per portfolio. Checks must be made payable to the Third Floor Photographic Society. On the back of each entry attach the entry form with your name, school name, school address, division, category, and instructor's name and phone number. No mailed entry will be returned unless return postage is included and SASE mailer is provided. Only high school students are eligible. High Schools are encouraged to mail or hand-deliver entries in one shipping container with one check to cover all entries. The Third Floor Photographic Society cannot assume liability for loss or damage to any entry, although reasonable care will be taken with all entries. All entries will be returned by Sunday morning to all attending students or instructors at the ATPI Winter Workshops or mailed back by March 10, 2012. Entries may also be picked up at TAMU-C. Please make arrangements when entering.

DEADLINE: The deadline for receiving mailed entries is Wednesday, Feb 8, 2012. Judging will take place on Saturday, Feb 11, 2012 in Arlington, TX in conjunction with the ATPI Winter Conference. PRIZES AND AWARDS: Certificates will be awarded in both divisions. There will be a Best of Show Color and Black and White awarded. There will be awards for First, Second, Third, and Honorable Mention in all categories. The top Junior/Senior Portfolio winner will receive a $750 scholarship from the Texas A&M University-Commerce Art Department if that student enrolls in the TAMU-C Photography Program as a declared photography major.
