Rising Star Portfolio Contest

This contest is designed for schools that want to compete in a portfolio contest, but don’t feel ready to compete for the Top Program award. Schools submit up to three 10-image portfolios representing at least three students’ work.

Rules and Submission Guidelines

    Rules have been modified for 2019-2020 due to school closures and online learning. In addition to extending the deadline, all entries are digital-only. No prints are required. Entry fees have been dropped for this year as well. In all cases, schools, teachers and students should follow local guidelines regarding shelter-in-place and social distancing while working on these entries.

  • Schools may enter 10-image portfolios in up to three categories. The Rising Star Award will be presented to the school with the highest number of winning portfolios, with four points awarded for a first place portfolio in each category, three points for second place, two points for third place and one point for honorable mention.
  • Sponsoring teacher must be a Texas member of ATPI.
  • All images must have been taken during the 2019-2020 school year.
  • Individual students may not have more than four images in any one portfolio.
  • Entries in the Cell Phone category should be a cohesive portfolio built around a theme or concept but the subject matter is up to the school. All images must have been taken using a cell phone.
  • Schools must upload a digital copy of each portfolio to the ATPI contest site by 6 pm on May 29, 2020. Upload portfolios under the teacher’s account. Include the required metadata in each image file (instructions here) and upload all 10 images under the teacher’s account.
