Classes

Live Broadcast Bootcamp

Join us in the newly renovated KGLE 3 studio to learn tips and tricks for producing a daily or weekly live production. From script writing, crew building, and video package production to going live for the whole school to see, we’ll cover it all while providing practical experience in producing your own spot.
Bring a camera, microphone, SD Card and laptop to produce your own video spot for use in the 10-minute show that you will produced on the last day of class.
Check out the daily news broadcast by KGLE3, the student broadcast program at Allen HS, here.
This class will be led by Kyle Juntunen and Gennifer Long (Allen High School) and ATPI Vice President Matthew Koby (Dickinson High School).

Road Trip

Do you remember where you were when you first thought you might want to be a photographer or a journalist? It probably wasn’t in a classroom. More than likely it was when you were out experiencing a photo op and you felt the rush of capturing THE shot! If that was true for you OR if it hasn’t happened yet, but you are hoping that it will, then THIS is the class for you.
RT24 will be a wide-ranging class in multiple ways. As the name implies, we’re taking our classroom on the road this summer to introduce you to some concepts that are going to be uniquely creative. We’ll go to some places where you’ll likely be out of your element initially, but you’ll see different approaches to turn insecurity into photographic success. Come along and discover multiple ways to improve your course and your classroom.
Be sure to bring your camera, lenses you love (we’ll also have a few for you to use if you are a Canon user), extra SD cards and batteries if you have them, and your laptop.
Class instructors will be Jeff Grimm (retired educator from Trinity High School, Euless) and Andrea Schlepphorst (Byron Nelson High School, Trophy Club).

The Environmental Portrait

Join us for a workshop shooting environmental portraits. A minimalist approach to getting the best out of your subject in an environmental portrait. Bring your camera and an assortment of lenses you are familiar with, memory cards and batteries and prepare yourself to shoot a variety of persons in settings that show who they are. Bring a laptop with your preferred software for editing photos. If it is a school laptop make sure that the software will work off-campus.
Class instructors will be John Knaur (retired from Olympus America, Inc) and ATPI Vice President John Skees (director of Media for the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools).
